In-Person Worship Guidelines

We have consulted and read many of the documents and guidelines published by our denominational relationships, the Center for Disease Control, and our local governments. Our Leadership Team and Pastors have decided to continue our worship and ministry through 3 formats:

1.     Sanctuary Worship:  In-person worship in the sanctuary will be held with limitations based upon guidance from our local and state authorities.

2.     Online Worship:  We recognize many will continue online, so please know we will continue to make the online experience interactive and worshipful.

3.     Meeting in Homes:  Our community group leaders can coordinate with their groups, if people would like to meet in homes to watch the worship online together. Groups may coordinate fellowship, food, and serving the Lord’s Supper together. Each individual can choose their level of interaction according to their personal convictions.

For those who choose to attend physically at Canal Street, we have the following guidelines in place. Please keep in mind that these guidelines are primarily for the safety of other people. Please read the following carefully. We want create a safe environment where people can eventually return to worship that is calming and worshipful.

Individual guidelines:

  • At-risk populations or those who have been exposed or could possibly be exposed to the virus should not attend in person.

  • If you feel sick, have a temperature above 100.4, have any COVID-19 symptoms, or have possibly been exposed to someone that is sick, we ask you not attend in person for at least 14 days.

  • Each person should sanitize their hands when they come into the entrance of the church. Sanitizer will be provided.

  • Please follow greeter and usher instructions as necessary.

  • No refreshments will be served.

Childcare and Nursery:

  • The first Sunday of each month is our "Family Sunday" and children will remain in the sanctuary for the entire worship service.

  • Children's Worship takes place every 2nd-5th Sunday.  Children ages 9 and below will be dismissed after announcements and return during communion.

  • Nursery is available every Sunday, for ages 3 and below.  Please check-in your babies and toddlers before the worship service begins.

Lord’s Supper:

  • Individual, pre-packaged cups with a wafer and juice will be provided for those who wish to take the Lord’s Supper.

  • We have two options: wine & gluten free wafer, or juice and regular wafer.

Cleaning and Sanitation:

  • After each worship service, the sanctuary and bathrooms will be cleaned with a detailed checklist.

  • After other groups use the building for worship, the same cleaning will take place.

  • A professional cleaning company has been hired to clean the Early Learning Center daily.

  • Bulletins and other information pamphlets will not be used during this time.  If you are a member, you will receive a digital bulletin in your email inbox every Friday.

  • Offering baskets are available at both ends of the alter area. You may deposit your tithe/offering after you've received communion. We also encourage online giving through Church Center App or our website portal.

  • Sign up for our e-news at the bottom right of this website, to stay updated on the latest info for our church family.

Some have asked what if we have to close back down? If that happens, we will be prepared to do so. We are monitoring local government and health professional guidelines during this season.  However, this is why we want to emphasize gathering in home groups as well as continuing our online worship. Whatever happens, we will continue worshipping as a family together!

We encourage you to choose one of the three options of worship that is appropriate for your situation and health. Thank you for taking the time to read and adhere to the above guidelines.  We look forward to the day when we may all gather together again!
